Name ≥3 plausible alternative paths that weren't taken. If you can only tell one story, you haven't understood the choice.

Name ≥5 specific conditions under which this move would have failed. A principle with no kill conditions is a superstition.

A marketplace inserts itself between a customer's annoyed wait and the business profiting from that wait — turning friction into a revenue stream. The key move: find who's currently absorbing the annoyance for free, and pay them.

Stanley's $73M → $750M move: freeze a commoditized functional product, make the variable (colorway) the product, and instrument who's actually buying — discovering a mismatch between assumed and actual audience. Then serve that audience by design.
